1937 Bathing Beauty by Dick LaBonte Sandra Thurber Kunz

Personal statement: What I paint is a direct response to what I see. For me, the appreciation comes first, immediately followed by a zest and enthusiasm about the subject. Watercolor, my medium, reacts with the spontaneity I find necessary to get my first impression down on paper. The painting becomes a permanent record of a fleeting moment.

Professional background: Early training at Lyman Allyn Art Museum. Associate Degree at Principia College. Further training and work at the Art Students League and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Traveled abroad-painted at Montmartre and the Tuileries of Paris, France.

Memberships and Exhibitions: NJ Water Color Society, Garden State Watercolor Society, Princeton Art Association, Ocean County Artists Guild, Monmouth County Arts Council, Monmouth County Art Alliance, Federated Art Association of NJ, The American Artists Professional League, Blackwell Center for the Arts, Dept of Environmental Protection, Mercer County College, NJ Center for Visual Arts, National Academy of Design.
